Google Pack Known Issues

You can use the list below to find out if your problem is a known issue. If the problem is listed here, we're aware of it and are working to fix it as soon as possible. To learn more about an issue and see possible workarounds, click 'Read more and let us know.'

Errors in the Updater

Google Updater Service is not running

This typically occurs when security software blocks the service from running. For more details, please see this article.

You're seeing an error that says 'Unable to contact server'

This error can occur for a number of reasons. For possible solutions, please see this article.

The Google Updater appears blank

The programs in the Google Pack install correctly, but when you open the Google Updater, you only see a blank window or a 'Page not found' error message.

'Can't Continue' error when installing or uninstalling the Updater

You're seeing error 0x80004005

This is a known issue for earlier versions of the Google Updater. If you're seeing this error, it's likely that you're trying to install an older version of the Google Updater over a newer version. To resolve this issue, make sure you're installing the latest version of the Google Updater. You can do this by downloading the installer from the Google Pack homepage.

You're seeing error 0x80070002

If you see this error while installing, it's likely that another program is interfering with your installation. As a workaround, please download the Google Updater to your desktop, and then temporarily disable your security software before installing.

You're seeing error 0x80070005

This error may prevent you from installing the Google Updater. We're currently investigating the nature of this issue.

Other Issues

Anti-virus flags Google Updater as a trojan

Certain anti-virus definitions may flag the Google Updater as a trojan virus. These notifications have proven to be false positives. You can continue to use the Google Updater normally after whitelisting the process in your security application. We're always willing to investigate these reports, so please feel free to contact us for further investigation.
